You should be donating blood regularly
Buckle up, this will be a preachy one.
If you aren't already, you should regularly donate blood. There are some reasons where that isn't possible or allowed, but the majority of worldwide adults are able to donate blood.
I'm ashamed to say, the first time I did this was as recent as in November 2022. Since then I've done it eight times (every 84 days).
A friend from my high school years went through a very dramatic medical situation over the last couple of years, where she literally would have died without random people donating blood, and she needed blood on multiple different occasions as well. I am aware that millions of people go through this on a global scale, but it wasn't until she told the story that it became real-real for me. "I would have died if it wasn't for blood donors". It shook me to my core. Here I sit all day complaining about life's silliest problems, and then I can literally help save lives by like, spending 30 minutes of my day every 3 months lying down and getting free snacks while they tap some of my blood. It's insane that I haven't done this since I legally could, and also, honestly, kind of insane how it isn't mandatory. The effort vs impact balance is completely off and the vast majority of healthy people do not have a single excuse not to do this regularly. Obviously this doesn't apply if you have actual medical reasons not do this, but being afraid of needles or feeling it's a bit uncomfortable ain't that.
Anyway. If you never done it, just book a time and go do it. It will be much easier, pain-free and good-vibes than you thought it would be. And I am sure you will now start doing it regularly.
