Mini-review: Fargo Year 5

I really loved this season. I unfortunately have to admit to never finishing Season 4, I just wasn’t able to connect with it. Season 5 was certainly the best since season 1.

The acting is top class as always Juno Temple who I couldn’t get enough from in Ted Lasso takes a complete turn in terms of character type in this role and is simply great. I want to see Jon Hamm only play villains from now on. And Joe Keery (of Stranger Things fame) shows he has so much more range than he’s gotten to show so far. and Jennifer Jason Leigh gets the most fun role in a twist of the evil step mom.

The season has of course received the standard backlash due to “woke garbage” which is all the more reason to love it. And the wokeness in question to be clear is that the season makes fun of MAGA republicans in a pretty big way, focused mostly on gun crazy people, racists and misogynists (so, all of them). In general, it’s a fantastically feminist season. The men are all either evil or inept, which is a nice change of pace.

As a bonus, the musical choices are great too.
