Glowtime pre-orders and a new Apple Store
A couple of hours ago the global pre-orders for the iPhone 16 lineup of phones opened, and I figured I’d report on my purchases, in the order that I made the purchases.
Apple Watch
I have owned every generation of Apple Watch since Series 8, as I switched to the Apple Watch Ultra lineup then - I currently own the Ultra 2. I was ready to buy the Ultra 3 this year, but alas no such product exists yet.
T uses a Series 7 and we have been considering an upgrade ever since the temperature sensor of Series 8, so this year was a given with such a big jump that Series 10 is, and also the new design. So, a Series 10 is on order for her. Specificially, an Apple Watch Series 10 GPS + Cellular, 42mm Natural Titanium Case with Natural Milanese Loop. It’s going to be a big upgrade for her. I am personally excited she is finally getting one of the nice-looking Apple Watches rather than the aluminum ones, and one with Cellular which has bugged me many times that she doesn’t have.

Accessories
Since no new Apple Watch for me this year, I did reward myself with the stunningly looking Natural Titanium Milanese Loop for Apple Watch Ultra.
I also got two of the upgraded MagSafe charging pucks to replace the ones in my two Twelve South Forté stands that I keep in the living room and kitchen - and I am happy to get the improved 35w wireless charging in those places, though it will still be annoying with all the other MagSafe stands than I own and fairly recently bought that will never be of this next-version fast charging.
iPhone
Three minutes after the store came back up at 2pm local Swedish time, I had two iPhones on order, one Natural Titanium Pro Max 256GB and one Desert Titanium Pro 128GB for T.
As I have written about, the iPhone 16 looks great so I’m excited to get them.

New Apple Store
On September 15 2012, I attended the grand opening of the first Apple Store in Sweden and the Nordics, in a mall called Täby Centrum in a suburb outside Stockholm.
I am excited to say that all the pre-orders made above is made to pickup at the grand opening of the 2nd Apple Store in Stockholm that will be much more closer to Stockholm city central, though in yet another mall - Apple Store Mall of Scandinavia.
So at 8am on September 20 I’ll be lined up for my 2nd Apple Store opening and I’m excited! It should be a fun one as I sure they will put on quite the show, especially when a store opening coincides with an iPhone launch. I hope to get a t-shirt 😉
My approach to upgrading every year
I have been buying the new generation iPhone and the new Apple Watch every year since they were introduced in 2007 and 2015 respectively. I buy AppleCare+ with every purchase, and as soon as Apple introduced monthly AppleCare+ in Sweden, I switched to that.
When the new generation rolls around, I sell the old ones on eBay primarily. I advertise heavily that they have AppleCare+ and thus risk-free for the customer. If I caused any damage to the device, I can get a very cheap repair just before selling them, so they look like new.
This way, I spend way less than you would think on a net-net basis on a yearly basis. It costs me maybe 80 euro a month net to own the latest iPhone and Apple Watch on a constant basis. Look at it like a subscription. That is a sum that for me I find incredibly worth it as they are my most used devices and very important to me. The Apple Watch for health and fitness, and iPhone for general computing but more importantly - it’s the camera I always carry.
